FL Dept of Business & Professional Regulation - Division of Drugs, Devices & Cosmetics - Certified Designated Representative Licensing

All prescription drug wholesale distributor and out-of-state prescription drug wholesale distributor permittees and applicants must designate in writing at least one natural person to serve as the designated representative for a given establishment. Such person must have an active certification from the department (a "certified designated representative" or "CDR").

The Department's CDR Requirements page outlines their requirements, including:

  • How to apply
  • Certification criteria
  • Operational requirements
  • Fees
  • A link to the printable application

In order to become certified, all application materials & fees must be submitted, and you must receive a passing score on an examination given by the Department regarding federal laws governing the distribution of prescription drugs and ss. 499.001 - 499.79, F.S., and the rules adopted by the Department governing the wholesale distribution of prescription drugs (the "CDR examination"). An application is not complete until the applicant has received a passing score on the CDR examination.

The Department publishes a Candidate Information Booklet (CIB) designed to introduce Computer Based Testing and provide candidate information for the examination. This is important, because your examination will be administered on an electronic testing system. The Department of Business and Professional Regulation has retained the services of Pearson VUE to schedule, administer, score and report the results for computer based testing. Pearson VUE is a leading provider of assessment services to regulatory agencies and national associations and offers licensing and credentialing support services to associations, state agencies, and private industry.

Caution - There are old versions of the candidate information booklet (CIB) that can be found on the internet. Be sure you're referencing the most current version. Here's how to find it. Go to the home page of the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation: http://www.myfloridalicense.com/dbpr/  In the search box, enter "candidate information booklets." Choose English. Then click "DDC - Certified Designated Representative."

 The CIB provides details on:

  • testing locations
  • the examination
  • administrative policies
  • scoring information and grade notification
